5 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE PLANNING A WEDDING
1. SET A BUDGET
Whether it’s you, your fiancé, or parents that are paying for the wedding, having a budget and sticking to it will help you save tons (of time and stress!) when planning. Make sure you take into account how much you want to spend on what matters to you and your fiancé most…wedding photographer, venue, dress, and etc. Deciding what you want to spend on the big stuff will help set the budget for all of the things!
2. WEDDING PLANNER
I can’t stress this one enough – wedding planners are friends, not foe! I’m not saying that a good wedding can’t be planned without one, but hiring a planner will definitely save you from stressing the little things. Having a wedding planner from day one will save you so much time and agony. They are there to help you with all your needs and most of all they are the ones that make sure your wedding day is just as you imagined. They’re the ones that will help you relax during your day and make sure you needs are met.
A planner I love working with is Big Guava Events, because they are on top of it! They are easy to work with and take the stress out of wedding planning. 3. LOOK AT MORE THAN ONE VENDOR
I’m not sure about you but I like to do my research. I always tell my couples to look at more than just one professional vendor. Each vendor is different, from their prices to the way they work – it’s always different. Doing your research helps you find a vendor you can connect with and who will ultimately be the best fit for your big day.
I suggest using the rule of 3’s: Reach out to 3 wedding photographers, 3 venues, 3 wedding planners, 3 florists, etc. This way, see what everyone offer and have a better decision making tool.
4. STAY IN THE MOMENT
Nowadays, it’s pretty easy for us to get distracted. As a photographer, I always bring my camera with me everywhere I go. In the last few years, I have taken it to less and less places and learned that making memories is what it’s about. Take the time to be present, look around, and truly enjoy your time with friends and family.
5. TAKE YOUR SWEET TIME
BREATHE! Breathe in, breathe out, and do it all over again! There is no need to rush into it, TAKE YOUR TIME. It’s your day (and your fiancé’s) so don’t let anyone dictate when and what decisions need to be made. Don’t want to choose vendors yet? Don’t. Want to be engaged for a year before starting to find vendors? DO IT. Enjoy your time together, this is only the start of your journey. One step at a time. Start small, like picking a date, and work from there.
